I believe that each one of us has strength and the capability to grow and change, beyond what we even realize that we possess. My goal is to help clients identify those strengths as they pursue personal growth and healing from the challenges and life stressors they face. Through the use of a client-centered approach, I strive to build a strong therapeutic relationship that prioritizes empathy and provides a safe and supportive environment so clients feel comfortable sharing their thoughts, feelings, and experiences. I believe that creating this safe space for others can be instrumental in the journey toward healing. It allows the opportunity to tell one’s story without fear of judgment or criticism and therefore, the freedom to engage in the counseling process while feeling supported and respected. By meeting the client where they are and working together through a collaborative process, I help clients identify goals that reflect their values, hopes, and dreams, empowering them to create positive change for improved health and happiness.
I started my social work career in 1996 and have experience working with children, teens, adults, and families in a variety of settings. My professional experiences include working in foster care, a juvenile detention center, a mental health facility, and as a school social worker for 13 years supporting the social-emotional needs of students and collaborating with teachers and parents to provide individual and group therapy, positive behavior support and academic/functional support.
